Abstract
We are students from Raffles Institution who conducted a research on land reclamation. The objective is to research on a topic that would affect Singapore’s Community. We chose the topic “land reclamation” as it affected the community in many ways and we were interested in doing research about it.
By using different methods, we completed our research. Sourcing the internet for our information; conducted a survey, a pilot study of it and lastly, an interview (methodology). We surveyed only people who were above the age of 16, but we tried to balance the gender differences to make the survey, of 20 people more fair. To our surprise, that people supported the idea of reclaiming land and we became confused as we were not expecting the answer. The same results were obtained in the pilot study and the interview. However the interview gave us a more in-depth knowledge of why the respondents of the survey gave us such results. We learned that the people were concerned about the community and the country’s expansion, both geographically and economically. There were still, however quite concerned about the marine life involved. As a conclusion, we would like to state that in our opinion, land reclamation should be continued but to a certain extent.
